About the role
We are looking for a detail-driven Medical Biller to own the day-to-day revenue cycle for a portfolio of medical and dental practices. You will submit clean claims, work denials, post payments, and keep accounts receivable moving so our clients get paid for the care they deliver. This is a hands-on role on a small, responsive team. You will work directly with providers and office managers, and you will be expected to spot problems before they become denials.
What you will do
- Submit clean electronic and paper claims (CMS-1500 and UB-04) on schedule and without gaps
- Review EOBs and remittance advice, post payments and adjustments accurately
- Investigate denied and underpaid claims, prepare and file appeals with supporting documentation
- Work aging reports and follow up on accounts receivable at 30, 60 and 90+ days
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits ahead of service where required
- Reconcile payments against expected reimbursement and flag discrepancies
- Maintain claim status notes so any teammate can pick up an account without rework
- Communicate clearly with clients on claim status, payer rules and documentation needs
What we are looking for
- 2+ years of hands-on medical billing or revenue cycle experience
- Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding, plus payer-specific billing rules
- Comfortable in at least one practice management or billing platform, and willing to learn others
- Familiarity with commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid billing requirements
- Strong Excel skills and comfort with spreadsheets and reporting
- Excellent written English and clear phone communication
- A quiet, reliable home workspace with dependable internet
Nice to have
- Dental billing, behavioral health billing or EMS billing experience
- Medical billing certification (CPB, CPPM or equivalent)
- Experience with clearinghouses and payer portals
Compensation
Compensation is set based on experience and discussed on the first call. We are transparent about pay and do not run percentage-based billing schemes.
